Title: The Absurdity of our Existence
Description: Why do we exist? What is the point of life? How should we live it? How free are we? And what does this freedom mean for us? These are questions that we struggle to find an answer to that is both truthful and satisfactory. The trouble is, often the naked truth is not as appealing as we subconsciously want it to be. I will present theories of existentialism, free will, nihilism and the Absurd to allow the audience to gain a new perspective on human existence. I will analyse Sartre’s novel Nausea and parts from Franz Kafka’s novel Metamorphosis on these theories, and further incorporate Friedrich Nietzsche’s thoughts on existentialism and Albert Camus’ on the Absurd to develop my analysis.
